Further Information:
The plaque on the side of the old school reads as follows:
"This cottage was erected by public subscription in 1799 to serve as the Wallasey Grammar School
replacing that which had existed from 1658 under the same roof as the old parish of St Hillary's.
It was used so until January 1861 when the school was transferred to the new premises erected by the
trustees in St Georges Road.
In 1873 a further move was made to Withens Lane on which site the present school buildings have
developed".
