The hospital was opened July 21st 1914 by Lord Derby. The site of the hospital was directly opposite Leasowe castle and was over 10 acres in size when fully constructed. The hospital and eventually became somewhat of a specialist hospital for Tuberculosis Patients. The beds seen above would be wheeled outside to help the patient recover, which at the time was believed to be an effective treatment. |
