The Warren

This dwelling was built around the turn of the 19th century and was used by local man John Salkeld from which to run
his Classical and Commercial
Academy.  There were 18 pupils at the school, most of which came from well to-do families.
The school closed down in 1861 and was used as a residential dwelling until 1906 when is was subsequently
demolished.  A year later in 1862 a new building was built in its place looking much like the previous but with slightly
newer features to its predecessor.  The Warren is still occupied today as a private dwelling.
