Ryleys Castle
Set back slightly from the old customs Watch house was an old dwelling known as Ryleys Castle. It was the home of
local man Samuel Ryley who died in 1837. Samuel was known throughout the village as a hopeless romantic, charming
to the last, a somewhat eccentric man but poor with financial matters. The current house on its site is said to
incorporate parts of Ryleys castle into the main structure and is now named Deva Bank.
