The Dee Cottages
This photograph shows the Dee cottages which date back to the early 1700s, and were most likely constructed to house
local fisherman and their families. These cottages are recorded as flooding many times through the centuries when
storms would send the sea water crashing over the break wall and into the cottages. There are actual records of one
woman at Parkgate being drowned in her bed during a violent storm. These cottages were at one time part of a group
consisting of Pengwern & Sawyers which were known locally as Pengwern Place.
